New job board aids immigrants in securing Canada residency

Canada’s new immigration policy, implemented this week, prioritizes 186 specific jobs, many in science and tech, by awarding them higher points in permanent residency applications. To help immigrants handle this shift, two Canadian startups launched PRJOBS, a job board highlighting roles that boost residency chances.

A targeted solution for skilled immigrants

Halifax-based ImmigrateAI Global and Vancouver’s Intern Insider introduced PRJOBS on Monday. The platform aggregates over 50,000 active jobs across Canada, with 10,000 new postings daily. These roles align with Canada’s Express Entry rules, which now award bonus points for “high-wage occupations” under the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS).

ImmigrateAI CEO Max Medyk noted the policy’s focus on attracting immigrants with specific skills. “Canada wants the right immigrants with the right jobs,” he said, emphasizing the challenge for applicants to find these opportunities. PRJOBS aims to bridge this gap, offering a streamlined path for those seeking to meet residency requirements.

Simplifying complex immigration processes

Medyk, a Ukrainian immigrant with firsthand experience handling systems in the U.S. and New Zealand, founded ImmigrateAI in 2024 as a tool to demystify immigration applications. The platform grew to 30,000 users in 140 countries within two years. His collaboration with Intern Insider CEO Ashkan Yazdi Zadeh, another immigrant, led to PRJOBS, leveraging their combined reach of hundreds of thousands of followers.

The platform’s impact is significant for applicants on the cusp of qualifying. “For someone whose [CRS] score, say, is about 480, but they need 520 to qualify, that’s a big game changer,” Medyk said. By focusing on technology, the startups aim to simplify government processes, allowing immigrants to focus on their lives while handling regulatory complexities.

ImmigrateAI’s Max Medyk and Intern Insider’s Ashkan Yazdi Zadeh, both immigrants, joined forces to create PRJOBS. Medyk, with his background in immigration policy, aimed to simplify the process for others. His online presence, including YouTube explainer videos, has garnered a significant following.

“Now we’re trying to use technology to bring a simplification layer to people’s lives, so that they can focus on their families, their jobs, whatever, and we help them with that convoluted government system.”
