Chexy lands second on Canada Fast 50

A Toronto-based fintech firm called Chexy secured the second spot on Canada’s 2026 Technology Fast 50 list after achieving explosive revenue growth of 23,183% between 2022 and 2025. The company attributes its success to evolving beyond its initial focus on rent-related rewards into a full-service payments platform catering to both individual consumers and businesses.

Since its launch, Chexy has handled over $2 billion in transactions while distributing more than $35 million in rewards to users. Originally centered on incentivizing rent payments, the company has since broadened its offerings to include utilities, tax payments, mortgage services, payroll processing, and cross-border transfers.

Corporate Payments Expansion

The company’s rapid ascent has been fueled by a C$14 million Series A funding round, spearheaded by Khosla Ventures. These funds are being allocated toward enhancing product features, upgrading technological infrastructure, and accelerating hiring efforts, with a particular emphasis on expanding its Toronto-based workforce.

Among the vacant leadership positions are roles for a Chief Marketing Officer and Head of Credit Risk, alongside openings in growth strategy, marketing, product development, and engineering. Toronto remains the hub for these hiring initiatives as Chexy scales operations across multiple departments.

Rapid Growth and Industry Validation

Liza Akhvledziani-Carew, Chexy’s Co-Founder and CEO, credits the company’s trajectory to the vast, untapped potential within routine financial transactions. “We started Chexy because we saw a massive opportunity hiding in plain sight: billions of dollars moving through everyday payments with almost nothing coming back to the people making them,” she stated.

Under her leadership, the team is now constructing the foundational systems required to sustain a full financial services platform, encompassing both technology and personnel. “We’re not building another payments app. We’re building the financial infrastructure to change how Canadians and Canadian businesses put their money to work,” explained Ben Gigone, Chexy’s Co-Founder and CTO.

Executive Outlook on Scale and Innovation

CEO Liza Akhvledziani-Carew said, “We proved the model with rent, and 23,183% growth tells us we’re onto something much bigger.” She said the firm is reshaping how Canadians handle money. “And we’re only getting started,” she added.

CTO Ben Gigone noted, “That takes serious engineering talent, ambitious thinking and technology built to operate at scale.” “We’ve proven we can grow fast.” “Now we’re building the team and the platform to go even bigger.” The platform is designed for larger scale.

Sector-Wide Recognition

Brendan Cooper, Co-Leader of the Technology Fast 50 program, highlighted Chexy’s achievement as emblematic of Canada’s tech innovation environment. “Chexy, alongside all this year’s Technology Fast 50 winners, exemplifies the ingenuity, resilience, and ambition that continue to define Canada’s technology sector,” he remarked.
