CommerceClarity buys AI firm Katalogo

CommerceClarity has acquired Katalogo.ai, a Barcelona-based startup focused on AI-powered styling agents for retail catalogues. The deal marks CommerceClarity’s first merger and acquisition, finalized 18 months after its founding and six months after it raised €2.7 million in funding. Luca Cozzolino, founder of Katalogo.ai, will join CommerceClarity’s founding team as Chief Product Officer.

The acquisition combines two approaches to managing product data in e-commerce. As retailers expand across channels, markets, and marketplaces, the quality of product data has become a key factor in online visibility. CommerceClarity’s platform uses AI to structure, enrich, and validate catalogue data across sales channels, acting as an intelligence layer for managing operations at scale.

Katalogo.ai specialized in building AI-powered styling agents capable of analyzing products and generating curated outfit recommendations. Its technology aimed to help fashion and lifestyle brands create personalized shopping experiences while maximizing product data value. Federico Sargenti, co-founder and CEO of CommerceClarity, said the two companies approached the same problem from different angles—Katalogo.ai focused on the merchant and platform side, while CommerceClarity worked on enterprise infrastructure.

Cozzolino’s background includes product leadership roles at Shopify and Zalando. He described meeting the CommerceClarity team as a moment where their expertise became “highly complementary.” The merger allows both companies to accelerate product development and pursue a shared vision for the future of commerce.

The acquisition coincides with CommerceClarity’s international expansion. The UK is now its first market outside Italy. As it grows, the company plans to scale its AI-driven catalogue operations platform and its “Service as a Software” model. Under this model, dedicated AI engineers work alongside customers to deploy and optimize catalogue management agents across product categories.

Both companies aim to address the growing complexity of product catalogue management in e-commerce. With AI-powered search and shopping agents influencing product discovery, maintaining data quality and compliance has become critical for online performance. The merged entity will focus on expanding its capabilities to meet these demands.

CommerceClarity’s platform currently serves enterprise retailers and brands including Prada, STIGA, and Top Farmacia. Katalogo.ai’s technology adds a layer of personalization through styling recommendations, which could enhance customer engagement for fashion and lifestyle brands. The integration of these tools may help businesses better leverage their product data across multiple sales channels.

As the e-commerce setting evolves, the ability to manage and optimize product data will likely become a competitive advantage. CommerceClarity’s expansion and the addition of Katalogo.ai’s technology position the company to address these challenges head-on. The move also signals growing interest in AI-driven solutions for catalogue management, a sector expected to see increased investment in the coming years.

The acquisition does not immediately change CommerceClarity’s core operations, but it adds a new dimension to its offerings. By combining infrastructure-focused tools with merchant-facing styling agents, the company aims to provide a more thorough solution for retailers handling the complexities of global e-commerce.

With the UK market now a focus, CommerceClarity will need to adapt its platform to local regulations and consumer preferences. The company has not yet disclosed financial details of the acquisition, but the deal highlights its strategy to grow through targeted M&A and technological integration.
